This disclosure is to help to inform you prior to your consent for treatment about the risks, side effects and possible complications related to Laser / IPL treatment:

The following reactions may occur after having treatment:

1. Swelling, redness, bruising, blistering, crusting/scab formation, scarring, infection and unforeseen complications which can last months, years or permanent.

2. A brownish/red darkening of the skin (known as hyperpigmentation) or lightening of the skin (known as hypopigmentation) may occur. This usually resolves in weeks, but it can take months to return. Permanent colour change can occur. Loss of freckles or pigmented lesions can also occur.

3. Many of the cosmetic tattoos and body tattoos are made with iron oxide pigments. Iron oxide can turn red-brown or black. Titanium oxide and other pigments may also turn black. This black or dark colour may be un-removable. Because of the immediate whitening of the exposed treated area by the laser, there can be a temporary obscuring of ink, which can make it difficult or impossible to notice a specific colour change from the tattoo removal process.

4. Infection: Although infection following treatment is unusual, bacterial, fungal and viral infections can occur.  This applies to both individuals with a past history of herpes simplex virus infections and individuals with no known history of herpes simplex virus infections in the mouth area. Should any type of skin infection occur, additional treatments or medical antibiotics may be necessary.

5. Bleeding: Pinpoint bleeding is rare but can occur during laser treatment.

6. Allergic Reactions: Although they are rare they can occur, it is your responsibility to notify the laser clinic and seek medical advice if necessary.  Hypersensitivity to various tattoo pigments during the tattoo removal process especially if the tattoo pigment contained Mercury, Cobalt or Chromium. Upon dissemination, the pigments can induce a allergic reaction that can occur with each successive treatment. Noted in some patients are superficial erosions, bruising, blistering, redness and swelling which can last months, years or permanently.

7. Compliance with the aftercare guidelines is crucial for healing, prevention of scarring and hyper-pigmentation.

8. Multiple treatments will be necessary to achieve desired results. No guarantee, warranty or assurance has been made as to the results that may be obtained.

9. I understand that a patch test will be undertaken prior to any treatment.

10. The success of all treatments is individual and results may vary.

11. I accept that hair removal treatment is not guaranteed to be permanent, there is usually a 60% - 90% reduction after a course of treatments.  In a small percentage of customers (for reasons that are unknown) and possible medical conditions, they may not achieve this.

12. I have not been advised against having this treatment from any Medical Practitioner, GP, or Consultant.

13. I agree to co-operate with the recommendations of the laser clinic while I am under their care, realising that any lack of co-operation could result in less than optimum results.

14.  I will be undergoing laser treatment at my own risk. I (the client) waiver all my rights and liabilities and will not make any claim against the laser clinic - Folkestone or the laser practitioner.

15. I will notify the laser clinic of any medical changes prior to each treatment.

16. Occasionally, unforeseen problems may occur and your appointment may need to be rescheduled. We will make every effort to notify you prior to your arrival to the clinic. Please be understanding if we cause you any inconvenience.
